Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance

Duties: Manage the compliance operations within the Athletic Department. Ensure the department is operating within the bylaws of the NCAA, Big Sky Conference, and University as well as to protect the integrity of the institution against possible violations of these bylaws. Direct, organize, and administer, in conjunction with other campus entities, the University’s compliance program related to recruiting, playing and practice seasons, amateurism, extra benefits, rules interpretations, financial aid, and rules education. Coordinate all compliance operations within the department. Create, maintain and deliver a comprehensive compliance education program to the following constituents: departmental staff, coaches, student-athletes, Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid Office, other campus offices, parents, and boosters. Additionally, conduct all beginning of the year compliance education meetings and monitor completion of all NCAA, MSU, and Big Sky paperwork by student-athletes prior to any participation. Investigate and report all possible NCAA, Big Sky, and MSU violations in accordance with Policy. Work with the Athletic Financial Aid Coordinator to monitor all athletically related financial aid to ensure it meets all necessary rules and regulations. Develop and maintain all social media accounts related to MSU Compliance Operations. Additionally, maintain MSU Compliance Website. Audit and oversee the athletics department recruiting program. This includes telephone/text monitoring, contact and evaluation checks, and rules interpretations. Also, organize and archive all recruiting records for up to 10 years. Monitor all playing and practice season activities to include: declaration of playing seasons, CARA log reporting, Outside Competition, summer activities. Additionally, occasionally attend practice sessions to monitor compliance with these regulations. Collect, monitor, and ensure completion of NCAA demographic Report, NCAA Sports Sponsorship Forms, and other required forms and reports. Partner with other offices on campus to ensure MSU’s compliance with all NCAA, Big Sky, and MSU rules and regulations. Supervise, mentor, and coordinate the Assistant Director of Compliance. Manage all waiver requests and communicate with the NCAA as necessary. Serve as the Compliance Liaison to the Big Sky Conference on behalf of Montana State University. Other duties as assigned by the Sr. Associate Director of Athletics for Administration/SWA and/or the Director of Athletics.
