The candidate's will partner with HR and management to provide guidance on all facets of employment law, ensure multijurisdictional compliance with all applicable laws, supervise outside counsel on employment litigation matters, draft, and review communications, and perform a variety of other legal duties as needed. Major Responsibilities: Litigation: Manage employment, benefit, and non-compete litigation, attending depositions, court hearings, mediations, and arbitrations; respond to government agency charges and provide timely updates to business leaders and supervisors to ensure alignment on litigation strategy. Employment Counseling: Provide legal advice and support to business and HR on a full range of employment and labor issues, including: Recruitment, leaves of absence, accommodations, performance management, discipline, terminations; Noncompete, trade secret confidentiality, conflict of interest issues; Restructuring, transactions, acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, due diligence; Union contract management; Outsourcing legal advice and support; Whistleblower management; Contingent workforce issues; Diversity and inclusion initiatives; Pay equity; Immigration advise and support; Wage and hour issues,; ERISA and severance[ AA/OFCCP compliance and oversight. WARN compliance; Interact with counsel representing incoming, current, and departing employees on employment-related issues. Ensure current practices are compliant with state, local, and federal employment, and labor laws. Maintain a proactive partnership with HR to enhance and simplify processes and further improve compliance efforts. Keep abreast of the legal landscape and update and maintain policies, communications, and practices to ensure compliance with changing laws. Proactively identify future trends and recommend legal strategies to meet current and future business needs in employment law. Enhance employee engagement and work to reduce employment litigation and disputes. Develop and deliver practical education for clients and actively collaborate with HR and business colleagues to implement positive change. Investigations: Oversee and manage internal investigations and remedial actions related to a wide variety of employment matters; review investigation reports; drive root cause analysis and implement corrective action to drive compliance and effective business practices and prevent employee misconduct.
