The Optometry Programme, within the School of Health Professions at the University of Plymouth, is looking for an exceptional individual to join the Optometry team, and lead its final year clinical activities at our Centre for Eyecare Excellence (CEE). This is an exciting chance to lead and manage a clinical team as part of a progressive, forward thinking Optometry programme, where you can really make a difference. The position will provide an enthusiastic optometrist with a unique opportunity to combine clinical practice, teaching and scholarly activity. You will be responsible for all clinical activity, ranging from the performance of non-student clinics and supporting student learning through leading and shaping a comprehensive range of eye care services. You would be responsible for the continued training and development of the clinical team at CEE. Key elements of the role will be to ensure high standards of professional quality as well as accurate and comprehensive records of student achievement. You will be registered with the General Optical Council and have a strong interest in the clinical and educational aspects of the profession. Continued engagement with optometry practice is an essential part of this role and active engagement in clinical teaching is expected. You will be responsible for maintaining the NHS contracts of the clinic and will be supported in all aspects of this role by an experienced Practice Manager and a Deputy Clinical Lead (Dispensing Optician), alongside a full academic team.
