Trust Operations Manager - Custody Accounts
The candidate is a member of the Fiduciary Operations & Services leadership team and has responsibility for all custody operation aspects. Essential Duties And Responsibilities: Ensures daily responsibilities and deadlines are met for trust operations – custody team. Identifies and implements new processes designed to increase team efficiency. Fosters an environment of responsiveness and end-client service. Encourages communication between and among the whole Estate Planning team. Develops a strong and efficient team through feedback, annual performance, and coaching conversations. Ensure daily routines for custody accounts are completed timely and accurately. This includes income collection, trade order management for executed trades, corporate actions, fees and routine disbursements. Assist the processing associates with incorporating the checks and balances in the daily routines that supports high degrees of scalability and automation. Ensure accurate account data and compliance with WI Supreme Court Rules Chapter 20 and/or other regulatory like compliance deemed applicable for Trust Accounting. Recommend exception reporting that could help the team identify instances of potential errors. Create and maintain positive, respectful relationships with Firm trustees. Reconcile shadow accounts to the custodian with the goal of processing all activity for the prior month thereby ensuring timely processing. Assist in disbursement coordination and payment of 65 day and liability distributions including, but not limited to, the communication and organization of information with the other trust accountants, attorneys, paralegals, and/or tax preparers. Requirements: Undergraduate degree in business, accounting or finance preferred or equivalent work experience. 5 years of experience in Trust Operations with supervisory experience. Have a thorough understanding of fiduciary terms and concepts, including but not limited to, amortization, corporate actions, wash sales, securities processing, interest and dividend payment methodologies, alternative assets, tax lot reporting and capital gain/loss tax implications. Familiarity with trust accounting software is strongly preferred. Basic understanding of financial terms, various types of investment vehicles, and the types of transactions and tax implications that they generate.
