To support the production floor, perform machine changeovers, and to support manufacturing/process engineering.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The top priority of this position is to work with others in response to production breakdowns. These breakdowns may not occur every day, but when they do, every effort should be made to resolve the issue quickly and prevent re-occurrence. The technician will work with maintenance and engineering personnel to troubleshoot equipment containing mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. Good use of logical troubleshooting techniques is required.
The technician will have the daily duty of changing dies on a hydraulic powder compaction press. This includes lifting the approximately 40-lb die set, installation, precision alignment, and testing for proper operation. Die installation requires reaching, bending, crouching, and using basic hand tools. Dies that are removed must be cleaned, washed, polished, and put back into the proper storage location. Training will be provided, but experience following critical procedures is desired.
The technician will changeover other equipment when switching from one product to another as necessary. These equipment changeovers include changing tools, loading electronic recipes, and adjusting settings to obtain desired results. Equipment types include mechanical powder compaction presses, small resistance welders, laser welders, laser engravers, robotic assembly equipment, and other production stations.
The technician will learn the operation of various pieces of production equipment. The technician will work together with production personnel to produce short runs of prototype batteries for development.
The technician will work with manufacturing engineers to develop and document new and improved production processes. This involves running try-outs, collecting data, and taking photos.

High school diploma or equivalent
U.S. person as defined by the 22 C.F.R. §120.15
Hands-on mechanical aptitude.
Creative problem solving.
Attention to detail.
Clear written and oral communication.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
An interest in automated manufacturing systems.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
General Job Requirements
This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
Risk of electrical shock.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
Must be able and willing to work overtime.
Must be able and willing to work varying schedules which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
