Senior Business Proposals & Projects Manager
Duties: Work with attorneys, marketing team and others to prepare proposals that meet the objectives of the proposal, budget and timeline. Work with the CMO and others to strategically position the firm and attorneys for new opportunities for expansion of work with existing clients and to proactively promote the firm for new business development. Investigate the economic conditions surrounding business activity such as industry trends and competition. Work with attorneys to attract new clients through innovative strategies. Help develop plans for attorneys to expand existing practices. Distribute inquiry documents/request for information to others involved in the proposal and estimate preparation time as required. Work with the CMO, practice group leaders and others as necessary to lead business development efforts for cross-sell opportunities among the firm's practices. Prepare all assigned proposal write-ups/packaging. Clearly define the Scope of Work and Services requested by the prospect or client to the attorneys. Obtain feedback from projects for "lessons learned" to incorporate in future proposals. Keep a detailed tracking of proposals to report progress. Assist with the preparation of marketing and business development materials to help promote and market the attorneys, the firm and its practice areas with the preparation of marketing and business development materials to help promote and market the attorneys. Help prepare attorneys for presentations and pitches. Help organize formalized business development training for attorneys and practice group leaders. Assist in the analysis of competitive intelligence data to better prepare attorneys for meetings with clients and prospects. Develop copy for materials and the website to help promote the firm, attorneys, practice areas and groups. Prepare and lead proposal meetings as necessary, handle the execution of all documents, and obtain assistance from other departments (Accounting, Human Resources, Pricing, Project Management, etc.) as required to prepare the proposal supporting documentation. A Bachelor of Science or related degree is needed. Should have 5+ years of experience with a minimum of three years in business development or proposal writing/development; project management and graphic design skills are a plus. Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Effective communications skills both written and verbal for interface with attorneys and co-workers are needed. Attention to detail a must and ability to meet multiple deadlines simultaneously a must. Must be able to work in a team environment. Excellent computer skills a must including: Microsoft Office Suite with excellent Excel skills required. Preferable to have extensive experience with Access, Adobe Suite, etc. Project management experience is a plus. Firm and discipline specific software applications in the legal industry are needed, specifically CRM programs as well as database experience or knowledge management experience. Excellent proposal writing and proposal development skills are required. Must have experience working in the legal industry, and preferably, specifically in business development.
