We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Corp Affairs expert, with core capabilities in project planning and strategic development, to drive the operations and strategy for International markets.
The International Corporate Affairs team comprises of 50 employees spanning across 25 markets from Japan to LATAM, Europe, Northern America and Asia ( ex-US). We are a very diverse team in respects to culture, background, capabilities and structure.
The broad remit of our in market teams covers developing the strategy and execution for internal employee engagement, external communications to drive our products, disease awareness and corporate reputation, as well as patient advocacy engagement, and support for external environment shaping in partnership with Market Access and Government Affairs/policy ex-US.
This role requires a level of seniority to be able to manage the matrix between the multiple Worldwide (WW) teams in the US, and in market teams. The ability to forge meaningful working relationships and act with authority and knowledge in representation of the markets, and empathy in understanding the dynamic of the WW teams is crucial. It will require a strong collaboration across all Corp Affairs functions to create a close and effective way of working between the WW CA teams and local markets in designing and executing the global CA strategy and in turn adding market perspective into the process.
The role reports to the Head of EU Cluster and International Markets Coordination, and sits on the International CA Lead team, comprised of Heads of CA in Major Markets and Intercontinental. The role is also aligned to the CA Chief of Staff and S&O lead via dotted reporting line.
Profile:
The role requires an individual with a high level of comfort interacting, building trust with and persuading key stakeholders. It would suit a communications professional who has very strong project management and strategic development experience, and thrives in roles which provide a breath of responsibilities and complex assignments which span across several functional areas. The role will provide an exposure to a wide range of Corp Affairs disciplines and issues across communications, advocacy and policy.
This is a new role, with plenty of scope to create the remit and ways of working. It reflects the expansion of remit within the International Corporate Affairs team. He/she will have an opportunity to contribute to the development of the Strat & Operations capability within CA.
Responsibilities:
Drives/coordinates execution of the key global initiatives which impact and need to be deployed in all/majority of markets e.g., corporate brand, intranet, social media, product launches, measurement & analytics to ensure:
Systematic gathering of market insights and inclusion of markets in the global planning, including considering an effective process to enable this
Aggregation of global resources from the various WW teams into simple, clear and easy to consume playbooks with supporting materials
Consistent and timely execution across markets / reporting back to WW
Supports the international annual planning process & reporting of progress against priorities
Establishes and manages the Communities of Practice around key functional priorities (e.g. thought leadership, employee engagement). Takes responsibility for defining the mandate for the COPs, agenda setting and cadence in partnership with key points of contact from WW
Supports the cadence of meetings, content and communications for the International team
Ensures systematic pull through of global and local content on company channels in partnership with the International editor
Coordinates the various WW requests from markets, to help simplify the cadence of communications
Maintains international calendar (aligned with the CA functional snapshot & operational calendar) and supports the international team governance
Directly supports select international initiatives such as C2C4C, WAYWF
Facilitates best practice exchange between markets and WW team – proactively identifies areas of innovation which should be scaled up to the benefit of the entire department
Works with market leads to create a process for sharing local priorities and insights to ensure teams within WW CA have clear visibility of the key focus areas for the markets
Qualifications:
12 years of strategic communications experience in a global, highly matrixed organization. International experience preferred.
Project management expertise, ability to lead complex initiatives setting clear objectives, project plan / roadmap, metrics and cadence to ensure programs progress on track
Ability to work across large groups of senior stakeholders
Knowledge of key corporate affairs disciplines and key internal and external dynamics which impact CA
Exceptional collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively within the department
Superior written and interpersonal communications skills. Strong presentation and facilitation skills; ability to engage with and persuade a wide variety of audiences.
Able to quickly learn and to operate within a complex, fast-paced and changing environment.
