SUMMARY

Iyabak Construction, LLC. (Iyabak), a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified/certified pipe welder for carbon and stainless steel, SMAW and TIG, and will also require structural steel welding. This position will support various project in the field as a welder.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are

Fit and prep pipe.

Weld new and existing pipe & fittings.

Cut and prepare structural steel building members.

Radiographic/magnetic particle inspection of welds.

Perform the work in a safe and responsible manner, and adhere to all local, state and federal regulations governing this type of work.

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

Journeyman level Welder.

High School Diploma or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

Knowledge of welding and fabricating safety

Knowledge of care and maintenance of welding and fabrication equipment

Ability to read and understand construction drawings.

Ability to function in inclement weather.

Ability to work at heights.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Essential and marginal functions requires maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, lifting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent in a non-sitting position with frequent opportunity to move about.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

Job is performed in an outdoor setting with exposure to heat and welding fumes and requires extensive use of a cutting torch, hand held grinders, hammers, wind, dust, and operational aircraft area. Working off personnel lifts in safety harness. Travel may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations. Must have driving privileges in Alaska and on military bases.
