Staff or Senior Staff Attorney, Insurance Defense
The candidate will analyze intricate substantive and procedural legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, and independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients. Prepare pleadings, written discovery, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies with limited supervision due to the expected level of experience and expertise. Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice, and other services to clients and claim customers in a technology-driven environment. Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures. Effectuate the prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases. Independently conduct all aspects of litigation including trials, depositions, arbitration, and meditations. Should have a JD from an accredited law school and license to practice in the State of California Should have 7+ years of legal practice experience handling tort defense cases. First chair jury trial expertise is preferred. Strong legal research and writing skills are needed. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize duties and time are a must. Strong communication, computer and technological skills (proficiency in MS Office, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook; and Lexis Nexis) and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required. Some trial experience is preferred. Strong legal research and writing skills are needed. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize duties and time are a must. Strong communication, computer and technological skills (proficiency in MS Office, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook; and Lexis Nexis) and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required.
