Chief Legal Counsel
Duties: Provides legal advice to CEO and management on a variety of legal matters. Corporate matters, contract interpretation and drafting, By Laws interpretation and drafting, drafting of agency proposed state and federal legislation, child welfare, delinquency, research, intellectual property, regulatory and other laws, and local governmental regulation, administrative law, liability issues, and open government law issues to ensure compliance and to protect the interests of the BFP FOA and those it serves. Identifies risk management issues, leads the FOA Risk Management process, and provide recommendations to senior staff for resolution. Research and analyze contractual, legal, policy, Florida statute or Florida Administrative Code or other matters in order to develop alternatives in support of the legitimate objectives of the programs and BFP FOA. This position also conducts legal research to provide an executive summary legal interpretation and recommendation(s). Responsible for all adoption finalizations for children and families in the System of Care. Provide legal analysis as requested of cases to ensure compliance with regulation and statute. Interfaces with and represents BFP’s interest to external agencies of state and federal government, providers, and other SOC agencies to ensure compliance with regulations and statutes and to support the SOC for those we serve. Serve on the executive team and provides oversight of the Court Specialist in monitoring performance and appraising associate job results.
