Working closely with the sales personnel and customers, this position will ensure products are dispatched to customers timely and efficiently. This position will also manage and direct drivers, share supervision duties of drivers throughout the year and communicate daily to location managers. Approximately 20-40 trucks in the local market and $50 to $98 million in annual revenue.Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the day to day operation pertaining to the scheduling, purchasing, delivering, and dispatching of Beacon products. This position will make judgment decisions that directly impact whether Beacon will have a financial gain or loss on each load. This position I responsible for work load distribution of drivers and product distribution for customers. The Centralized Dispatcher must make sound decisions to direct, re-direct, and/or stop all processes deliveries if necessary. This position also serves as the communication post for employees, customers, and suppliers. He/she must be customer focused, energetic, and must be able to mak sound decisions during stressful, fast paced environments.Oversees the dispatching and Fleet operations of branches in the local market to optimize delivery zones and minimize miles driven per delivery and deadhead milesDesigns and oversees Hub startup as it relates to delivery and replenishment scheduling as well as warehouse flow setup and managementEnsure 100% compliance to DOT and OSHA regulations across entire market Identifies root cause and implements corrective actions to ensure same quality of service levels at all branches to ensure transparency to customers as it relates to delivery branch location. Develop and implement market and branch level metrics scorecard for operations and fleet management Partners with Supply Chain and Branch Managers to modify inventory storage strategies to drive ‘closest Branch with inventory and capacity makes the delivery’ concept Develop plan and timeline to implement centralized dispatching in the local market Plan the routing and job scheduling of drivers to pick-up and deliver orders from/to the customerMonitor current schedule of drivers to ensure workload balance; Conduct reassignments, as necessary, in case of breakdowns or interruptionsCommunicate all relevant details of the pick-up and/or delivery to the sales personnel and or location managers and customer to ensure proper executionMonitors existing and new business processes for improvement opportunities in Safety, Distribution Process Capacity/Lead Time, Inventory, and Cost through lean problem solving methodology.Tracks, measures, and reports progress on improvement opportunities.Communicate with the customer to ensure awareness of all pick-up and/or delivery times and special instructions Complete work orders and enter necessary data (i.e. equipment inventory numbers, arrival/completion times)Reschedule incomplete work orders and verify with customers Maintain ongoing customer contact to keep appointments on track Identify outages and dispatch repair following established procedures Clear outages after service is restored. Alert personnel via established procedures Monitor and dispatch service-out work order pools as appropriate; screen work order pool to ensure that only valid work orders are dispatched; troubleshoot with customers when necessary; track outages for reporting purposes Follow established processes and procedures for service outs, outages, missed appointments and customer complaints; provide thorough follow-up via ongoing customer contact Manage quota as appropriate for each market Serves as a change facilitator, develops and collaborates with champions in the division, region and branches, and influences organizational leadership in the transformation to and/or in support of a continuous improvement/learning culture. Update billing system notes on an ongoing basisAddress market-specific email submissions constantly to ensure customer satisfaction Evaluate, decide, and direct drivers on where and what type of product will be delivered. Timely decisions must be made and executed properly to ensure profitability. This decision directly impacts whether there will be a financial gain and/or loss on each load. Evaluates and distributes work evenly to drivers. Evaluates work load vs. available hours of service to ensure DOT compliance for driver workforce. Communicate via computer system with drivers to assign, direct, re-direct and instruct work to meet business needs. Serve as direct communication contact for employees, customers, and suppliers. Respond to customer orders, questions, and complaints/issues appropriately. Respond to employee questions, concerns, or issues. Respond to supplier concerns policies, rules, product allocation as appropriate. Make decision and executes orders and direction for mechanical failures and/or truck maintenance. Make decision and executes orders and direction appropriately for accidents and/or incidentsEvaluates and determines immediate disciplinary actions as needed for drivers.Supervises all drivers on shift.Has direct input and suggestion for performance evaluation.
