Description
The Medical Record Retrieval Representative (internally referenced as Risk Adjustment Representative 2) travels to provider offices within the region and retrieves medical records into a secure system. The records are reviewed by Humana's Coding staff.

Gadsden, AL
The Medical Records Retrieval Specialist / Risk Adjustment Representative 2 ensures accurate and properly supported clinical documentation within the health record. Follows state and federal regulations as well as internal policies and guidelines retrieval medical records. Decisions typically focus on interpretation of area/department policy and methods for completing assignments. Works within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards, but has some latitude over prioritization/timing, and works under minimal direction.
Follows standard policies/practices that allow for some opportunity for interpretation/deviation and/or independent discretion.
Travel up to 100% of the time, and will consist of driving to locations close to your home, as well as driving to locations that require overnight travel for up to a week at a time.
Use a laptop computer and a portable scanner to retrieve medical records which will be uploaded into a database.
Schedule appointments and visits to physician offices in a timely, efficient manner to meet all deadlines
Required Qualifications
Live within reasonable commutable distance of Gadsden,AL
1 years of experience in office support, retail, customer service and/or Healthcare
Must have reliable transportation
Demonstrated organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Working knowledge of computers, or a demonstrated technical aptitude and an ability to quickly learn new systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical, organizational and time management skills
This role is part of Humana's Driver safety program and therefore requires an individual to have a valid state driver's license and proof of personal vehicle liability insurance with at least 100/300/100 limits
High-speed DSL or cable modem internet connection (wifi not allowed) for a home office; a minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 10mb and 1 mb up. A dedicated space with a door that locks preventing ongoing interruptions
Must be able to carry Humana approved equipment to provider site locations and lift a minimum of 50lbs
Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Knowledge and experience in health care environment/managed care
Familiarity with ICD-9/10 codes
Additional Information
This role is considered patient facing and is a part of Humana's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected for this role, you will be required to be screened for TB.
This position is in scope of Humana's Driving Safety and Vehicle Management Program and therefore subject to driver license validation and MVR review.
