General Counsel

The candidate will oversee all legal aspects of the entire development from property acquisition through leasing, development, and the real estate disposition process. Oversee a broad range of business transactional matters such as contracts, real estate matters, vendor agreements, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and international relationships and transactions. Prepare, update, and implement corporate legal operations, policies, and procedures. Source, analyze, and select outsourced councils for centers of expertise that are not internal (i.e. Employment Law, etc.). Analyze complex contractual risks and counsel business teams on operational and legal issues associated with client contracts, as well as matters of contract interpretation, implementation, and risk mitigation strategies. Manage various projects and deadlines, acting as a liaison between real estate, construction, and legal functions, while ensuring legal objectives are met. Offer counsel and advise executives on contract status, legal risks, and business terms of all transactions. Keep abreast of regulatory and legislative changes that may affect the company. Develop solutions to complex legal questions. Aid with joint ventures, strategic partnerships, financing transactions, and mergers and acquisitions. Standardize the legal/transactional process, to achieve economies of scale and cost savings. Serve as the recognized subject matter expert in real estate law and principles. Oversee in-house legal team that includes leasing, litigation, partnership oversight and patents. Responsible for tax planning, zoning and approvals, and other support functions. Perform legal research as needed.
