Performs tests and repairs on a variety of electronic and/or mechanical controllers returned from the field. Builds and tests refurbished controllers. Ensures repaired controllers meet established specifications.

ESSENTIAL Duties and Responsibilities

(will include but are not limited to)

Performs diagnostic on controllers to diagnose cause of malfunction. Makes adjustments or repairs accordingly. Tests circuit boards and components to locate defects. Replaces or repairs defective circuit boards and components.

As necessary, converse with customer to ascertain problem with equipment and to determine if equipment failure is due to normal wear, water damage, weather or other factors. Makes determination if repair is within warranty guidelines and if not, provides repair estimate to customer.

Tests, adjusts and calibrates controller according to specifications.

Maintains records of repairs, calibrations and tests in computerized system.

Reassembles unit and prepares for shipment or for stock as applicable.

Maintains adequate stocks of repaired controllers of specific model types assigned to them, per the monthly schedule provided by the Manager.

Orders parts and supplies needed to complete their assignments on schedule.

Operates material handling equipment including forklift, pallet jack, hand trucks and other equipment to move materials, supplies, finished goods, etc.

Utilizes quality & inventory related software as required.

High School diploma or GED with course work in reading Schematics and Bills of Materials and basic Technical documentation.


Minimum 2 years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Apprenticeship or formal training in electric/electronic repair highly desirable.

Computer Skills:

Must have ability to effectively use personal computer and associated software.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Must have ability to effectively use various electronic, hand and power tools and test equipment. Demonstrated ability to solder (through-hole and surface-mount) and de-solder. Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints and test procedures. Ability to use precision measuring devices, Oscilloscopes and Electronic Test Instrumentation.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee in order to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

When performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to lift and store bins containing controller related products weighing up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. Applicable safety measures that are in place must be observed.
