Profile

Joining the Secret Service, Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Budget Division, will allow you to serve as the focal point for the resolution of difficult and complex financial resource management problems which impact the programs of the U.S. Secret Service. This Budget Analyst position starts at a salary of $102,663 (GS-13, step 1), with potential to $133,765 (GS-13, step 10). Typical work assignments include:

Performing a wide variety of administrative and analytical duties related to budget formulation, justification, presentation, execution, and review of financial status for the U.S. Secret Service; and preparing findings, analyses, reports, and recommendations.
Interpreting budgetary policies, coordinating and planning budget services, management of resources, and forecasting budgetary trends and activities; and providing subject matter expert guidance across the Budget portfolio in the areas of budget justification, analytics and integration.
Developing cost factors, ratios, tests, and other mathematical modules to evaluate the current financial status, and to determine the cost-benefit of alternative budget and program actions; and integrating data from both justification and execution elements to build detailed analysis for leadership decisions.
Providing advice and assistance to managers in the development and presentation of budget requests; drafting and issuing interpretations of Departmental and OMB budgetary guidance; and providing budgetary adjustments and developing complex strategies, narratives and statistical materials for the Federal budget and programs use by senior management officials.
,qualifications:You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $102,663) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing duties such as performing a variety of analytical and technical administrative functions, i.e., budget formulation, justification, presentation, execution, and review of financial status reports.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.Qualifications Must Be Met: The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date of this announcement.The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
