International Trade Compliance & Export Controls Associate

The candidate will also have strong academic credentials, Must be admitted and a member in good standing of either the California, District of Columbia or Illinois Bar to apply. Must have 5-7 years' international trade experience, with an emphasis on compliance with US export controls, trade and economic sanctions, and anti-boycott controls. Must have experience in import and customs issues (e.g., classification, valuation, marking, preference claims, trade remedies) will be considered, for the Firm’s San Francisco, Palo Alto and Chicago offices. Specific experience advising US and non-US companies on licensing, enforcement actions and governmental audits, internal investigations and compliance audits, disclosures, classification, encryption, compliance due diligence in mergers and acquisitions and other cross-border transactions, and on the design, implementation, and administration of compliance programs is preferred. Must have excellent analytical, communication and writing skills, and an ability and willingness to collaborate across teams and cultures. Major law firm experience strongly preferred.
