Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a mid-level Tax Associate to join its growing Affordable Housing and Tax Credit Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a lateral associate to work with a dynamic team, providing legal expertise related to affordable housing projects. The role involves tax-related work in real estate transactions, particularly focused on federal income tax credits, and is available across several major U.S. markets.

Location:

  • Boston, MA

Duties:

  • Advise clients on tax matters related to affordable housing, including federal income tax credits and partnership tax issues.
  • Represent for-profit and nonprofit developers in the development, acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, operation, and sale of affordable multifamily housing.
  • Work with various federal, state, and local affordable housing programs.
  • Draft and review legal documents related to tax credits, affordable housing projects, and real estate transactions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide strategic and comprehensive legal support for clients.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships by delivering high-quality legal services.

Requirements:

  • At least two years of experience in partnership tax law, with an emphasis on federal income tax credits.
  • Strong background in accounting.
  • Active member (in good standing) of any state bar.
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting (required).
  • LLM in Taxation (preferred).

Certifications:

  • Active membership in a state bar (in good standing).

Skills:

  • Expertise in partnership tax law, particularly federal income tax credits.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
