Global Software Asset Manager
The candidate will oversee all activities that optimize the value, cost and risk of software asset lifecycle while aligning to the business requirements. Will establish and own the firm’s global SAM strategy, using ServiceNow (SAM functionality), as the toolset of choice. Accountable for manage and monitor software compliance and sharing risk mitigation strategies at both an executive and operational level. Monitor software agreements and renewal requirements assigned to the role to ensure the firm remains compliant while also driving efficiencies through license optimization. Ensure that activities to drive such optimization and compliance are followed through by the required by date. Support the different locations in understanding the current status of their licensing compliance and risk. Be accountable for designing, implementing and owning the firm’s SAM policy and standards. Develop and enhance methodologies, policies and practices for software asset life cycle management in line with best practice and practical experience. Design and manage software asset life cycle management status reporting, metrics and benchmarks. Work with the Configuration Management Team to centralize and integrate software and hardware assets and licenses with the firm’s Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Maintain a catalogue of products to streamline the purchase process. Establish automated license re-harvesting and optimization process through analysis of real usage. Develop an audit schedule to ensure license positions are monitored for compliance. Provide a regular view of vendor audit risk profiling, including periodic review to identify which vendors are likely to audit, including managing any external license audit processes inclusive of commercial responses. Define a roadmap to anticipate renewals. Monitor and optimize the firm’s licensing position ensuring risk mitigation to avoid non-compliance. Verify software deployments by a combination of discussions with the service owners and leveraging ServiceNow (SAM module) to identify under-deployments for potential cost savings and over-deployments that may require the acquisition of additional rights. Support cross-functional teams to successfully identify optimization opportunities. Provide the Global/Regional Vendor Management department with accurate and valid information surrounding license positions ahead of any renewal. Maintain the software relevant contracts in the firms SAM tool. Review annual software maintenance budgets, and provide visibility on future needs. Review software-related detail in business cases and project budgets, to ensure that they comply with corporate policies, applicable standards and legislation. Provide regular management information and compliance status for monthly reports, including per region breakdown of license utilization. Lead internal governance to oversee the activity. Manage Vendor Licensing Portal. Should have 3-5 years of relevant experience. Experience in management positions in the area of software asset management is required. Hands-on experience and knowledge implementing ServiceNow (SAM functionality) across a global organization (essential) is required. Hands-on experience in managing, Software discovery, Software model and entitlements in ServiceNow is required. Hands-on experience in producing regional dashboard and reporting is required. Experience in license management is required. Experienced in managing external software compliance audits ideally from at least one of the major global software publishers is required. Experience working with complex data sets that requires strong attention to detail is required. Strong Effective Licensing Position (ELP) knowledge on the common software products (e.g., Microsoft, SAP, Adobe, etc.) is required. Strong knowledge in budget and cost management is required. Understanding of Cloud service-based consumption models (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, etc.) is required. Professional certification related to Software Asset Management (e.g., IAITAM, CSAM or equivalent, Microsoft MCP), plus ITIL V3 (desirable). ServiceNow Software Asset Manager certified or equivalent is required. Familiarity with SAM standards or frameworks such as ISO.
