A law firm in Washington D.C. is actively seeking a highly qualified IP Transactions and Patent Prosecution Patent Agent with a Ph.D. in a Biotech discipline. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience as a patent agent, showcasing proficiency in drafting patent applications and managing all stages of the patent prosecution process. This role involves collaboration with inventors, lawyers, and clients, conducting prior art searches, and contributing to patent due diligence. The successful candidate must maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest patent laws to assist lawyers in drafting legal documents.

Job Details:

• Education: Ph.D. in a Biotech discipline.
• Experience: Minimum of 4 years as a patent agent.

Duties:

• Draft patent applications and other documents throughout the patent prosecution process with the US Patent and Trademark Office and foreign patent offices.
• Prepare appeal briefs, petitions, or responses to post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trials and Appeals Board.
• Take invention disclosures and coordinate and correspond with inventors, lawyers, and clients.
• Conduct and analyze the results of prior art searches.
• Assist with patent due diligence.
• Maintain knowledge of the latest patent laws to aid lawyers in drafting legal documents.

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in a Biotech discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a patent agent.

Skills:

• Strong drafting skills for patent applications.
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities with inventors, lawyers, and clients.
• Proficient in conducting and analyzing prior art searches.
• Knowledge of patent laws and ability to stay updated on changes.

Certifications:

• Registered Patent Agent.
