Job Description
Position Summary: Reporting to the Head of Global Talent Management, the Global Learning Leader is responsible for leading the firm-wide L&D function within the Talent Management COE, to ensure global strategies are translated and delivered appropriately and effectively, the function is utilized and valued and remains innovative and relevant. This role will be responsible for the global strategy, design and development of Sales, Leadership and Managerial, Professional, Company and Industry knowledge and skill building for Marsh colleagues globally. This position will take the lead on the needs based development strategy to ensure the global workforce has the knowledge, skills and capabilities to achieve our business objectives now, and in the future. The Leader will work with a matrixed team of talent and learning professionals and analysts and external vendor partners to achieve the strategy. He/she will develop and implement a systemic approach to promote learning solutions, review programs for effectiveness as well as streamlining the programs offered, with the overall goal of developing and upgrading a set of development programs that consistently deliver results aligned with the business strategy. The Learning Leader will bring new learning strategies that leverage social media, virtual learning and other interactive and creative solutions to deliver learning in an on-going and impactful way. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who combines a successful and in-depth L&D background with demonstrated strengths in needs assessment, content design, development and delivery of high-impact learning solutions and impact measurement. The L&D leader must be relationship oriented, with a high degree of influence and partner with both business leaders and regional HR and learning teams. The candidate should also be a highly motivated self-starter, able to lead teams and translate business performance gaps into learning and development strategies. This role provides deep learning & development center of expertise leadership in a fast paced, energetic environment. Manages department or small unit that includes multiple teams led by Managers and/or Supervisors. Owns the execution of group strategy and the operational direction of the Department. Problems faced are often complex and require extensive investigation and analysis. Requires ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and ability to communicate and influence executive leadership. Responsibilities: Leads the Learning & Development function including planning the firm-wide strategy in alignment with global Talent Management strategy and business goals. Oversees large-scale curriculum designs, implementation and communication strategies, and change management tactics including deciding metrics to measure and report on progress and performance. Partner with company leadership to identify key capabilities for development and design appropriate learning and development solutions to build capability in the areas of Sales, Leadership and Managerial Skills, Professional Skills, Financial Acumen/Profitability and Innovation. Manages large outsourcing and vendor accounts and makes vendor investment decisions consulting performance metrics, financial metrics to ensure all L&D resources are invested appropriately and effectively. Establishes and nurtures relationships with key leaders and stakeholders across the business. Develops and maintains a network HR, TM & L&D and business contacts to facilitate co-development and implementation of key deliverables. Uses resources and tools created by the COEs to communicate capabilities to the businesses on a regular basis and to ensure process and product optimization across HR COEs and functions. Represents the business as a leader in the field by attending and participating in industry conferences and organizations to gain insight as to current best-practices and vendors/outsourcing opportunities. Prepares and oversees the annual budget for market-wide programs and projects and monitors progress against cost to ensure expenditures operate within appropriate guidelines. Develop the on-boarding strategy, process and programs for entry, mid and senior level hires, orienting them to Marsh, leveraging both global and local leadership and ensuring the process continues for their first year, involves their manager and leaves them feeling that Marsh is the best company to be part of. Develop and implement an effective impact measurement strategy for learning. Work with program management colleagues to ensure all training and development programs are aligned to agreed relevant schedule, budget and learning objectives; monitor and track training results and effectiveness.QualificationsEducation Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field such as education, organizational development or other related field. Knowledge and skills associated with a Master’s Degree in these areas preferred, with a concentration in adult learning in a business environment; Instructional design background preferred. Experience: Minimum of 12 years experience in Learning & Development and 3 to 5 years in a learning leadership and strategy role 7 years management experience (experience managing a remote/matrix reporting relationship is a plus) Demonstrated ability to operationalize training best practices Experience providing global and blended learning solutions Knowledge and skills: Strong people management skills, including the ability to manage remotely and globally Demonstrated expertise and ability to build relationships with business partners, HR colleagues and vendors Proven consultation, negotiation and influencing skills in a business environment.
