Forester (Timber Sale Preparation), GS 07-09

Duties: The candidate will analyze project sale folder information required for a timber sale program. Will assemble timber sales contract package in accordance with organizational standards. Determine the resources needed for the layout of timber sales. Conduct interviews with prospective timber purchasers. Explain contract clauses, road development, and cutting practices to prospective purchasers. Discuss technical requirements of contracts in support of a timber harvest program. Compose environmental assessment reports and environmental impact statements in accordance with National Environmental Policy Act. Prepare records summary for final appraisal, sale contract preparation and timber management activities. Create detailed maps, timber sale appraisals, timber sales write up, advertisements, prospectus, and sample sale contracts. Prepare logging plans and verify logging system settings to ensure contract requirements are met. Oversee timber cruising and marking for a timber sale program. Identify land status and environmental constraints affecting layout of proposed timber projects. Conduct preliminary field inspection to determine sale boundaries and road location. Review and analyze field data in support of timber sales.
