WR Grace is seeking a Senior Engineer who will be responsible for providing engineering support to the FCC Evaluations Research Team in Columbia, MD. This position reports to the Principal Engineer.
Support two DCR pilot plants, catalyst deactivation equipment and bench scale testing equipment
Responsible for equipment maintenance and reliability
Provide troubleshooting leadership for lab equipment
Lead management of change and hazard review sessions
Coordinate engineering resources to meet project deadlines
Work closely with other team members to execute projects effectively and completely
Develop and execute project plans and coordinates resources (internal, external) to meet objectives and goals
Review new and existing designs to optimize function and reliability
Lead start-up of licensed units at customer sites
Good oral and written communication skills
Demonstrates leadership and ability to work well under pressure and respond to critical issues in a professional manner as well as with a diverse group of people
Knowledge of the fundamentals of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and proficiency in process control
Experience with GE iFix and/or Honeywell hybrid control would be considered a plus
Holds safety as a top priority while working in a team setting
High initiative and ability to learn
Willingness to do hands-on lab work and troubleshooting
Ability to deal face-to-face with customers
Ability to drive projects to completion and on time
Good administrative skills (handling of many simultaneous assignments and meeting deadlines).
Ability to organize and prioritize
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office
Working knowledge of computer programing that include writing macros in Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications for Microsoft Office, and Excel in particular
Understanding of company and industrial design and repair standards and maintenance practices. Knowledge of proper equipment design and proper operation. Familiarity with laboratory testing equipment such as Gas Chromatograph, Leco Carbon Analyzer, etc.
Bachelor's Degree completed
5-7 years' in related engineering experience
