Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm in Houston, TX, seeks a dynamic and dedicated Associate Immigration Attorney specializing in EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review) matters. This role offers an opportunity to manage a diverse caseload, collaborate with a skilled legal team, and represent clients in high-stakes immigration proceedings. Duties:

  • Represent detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before Immigration Courts, USCIS, and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Prepare and file defensive immigration applications, including asylum (I-589), cancellation of removal (42A, 42B), adjustment of status (I-485), Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), and prosecutorial discretion (PD) requests.
  • Review and manage family-based immigration applications and other USCIS filings, such as I-130 petitions, I-601A waivers, and U-Visa applications.
  • Conduct client consultations to develop legal strategies and provide comprehensive case analysis.
  • Oversee and coordinate with a team of paralegals to ensure high-quality client service and timely case processing.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs and motions for a variety of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience practicing Immigration Law.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload and effectively advance cases through the legal process.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Relief, EOIR proceedings, Detained Cases, Citizenship applications, and USCIS processes.
  • Familiarity with immigration case management software (preferred).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed and admitted to practice law in Texas.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar Membership in good standing Texas.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Ability to think critically and develop creative legal strategies.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple deadlines.
  • Empathy and professionalism in working with clients from diverse backgrounds.
