Position Summary: The Asset Protection Specialist is responsible for providing physical security services related to building security and asset protection at all Sallie Mae facilities. The individual will utilize communication, analytic and problem resolution skills to help resolve security and access control problems for employees, contract agents, and customers throughout the organization. AP Specialists may also administer and help support various Information Security management programs and initiatives related to computer security, policy and procedures, awareness training, audit coordination, legal matters, legislation and regulatory compliance. This position is a shiftwork position, which may be rotating or steady shifts, depending on the needs of the organization, and all shift schedules are subject to last minute changes to meet the ever-changing world of physical security. As a result, flexibility, self-motivation, and enthusiasm are critical skills for this position. Key Responsibilities: Security System Administration - 50% Monitor security systems (access control, video, and alarms) used to protect the assets of the company. Add, remove, modify and manage system configurations, user profiles, and action plans for all security systems in the Corporate Security Operations Center. Sallie Mae site security program management (Sallie Mae facility oversight of location O&M (Operations & Maintenance) and enhancements of protective technical countermeasures) Serving as Tier 1 network security\/ monitoring support of the ingress\/ egress defenses staged to secure the SLM network. Incident Management - 15% Respond to calls for security service from customers, employees, vendors, and contract agents of Sallie Mae, Inc. Managing and coordinating the initial investigative\/ response phase of the response to a cyber Incident. Active Shooter response coordination Receive and process service calls for all security equipment throughout the organization. Managing the initial investigation phase of all security incidents Documenting all security incidents and writing initial reports into a security case management system Emergency Response and Compliance - 10% Serve as the central point of contact for contract guards on duty at all Sallie Mae facilities. In this capacity, the AP specialist has decision making authority for police\/fire dispatch and policy interpretation for emergency guard force actions. Ensure compliance with all physical security policies related to access control, opening and closing procedures, and guard force activity at all Sallie Mae facilities. Security Policy Administration - 5% Interact with internal and external auditors regarding security controls, policies and procedures. Assists with the implementation of information security policies, procedures, training and awareness programs. Address client security questions regarding security policies and procedures. Collect and correlate data for audits Intelligence - 10% Monitoring of Social Media threats\/ activities against Sallie Mae facilities and employees. Monitoring of weather and other natural and artificially induced events. Monitor and respond to correspondence received on the email@example.com account. Tracking of requests for the use of mobile devices by employees while on International travel and providing best practice documentation. Insider Threat coordination Other - 10% Attend training classes as appropriate to develop proficiency in security procedures, administration, security compliance, auditing and other related areas. Perform other projects or special assignments as required. Requirements Education: Associate's Degree in an IT related field such as Information Technology, Network Management, or Computer Science or a Security or SSCP certification or equivalent work experience. Experience: 2-3 years of experience in a corporate security role, and a basic understanding of security system technologies (alarms, video, and access control).\u00a0 Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access\u00a0 Ability to accurately identify issues, implement effective resolutions and\/or make recommendations and appropriately elevate to senior management.\u00a0 The AP specialist must be flexible, energetic, and willing to take ownership for work performed and decisions made during the course of duty.\u00a0 Above all, the AP specialist must be a trustworthy individual, with very high ethical standards and excellent integrity. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have the ability to learn, grasp and retain a variety of system, network and security related concepts, information and procedures and be able to effectively apply this knowledge on a daily basis. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) are required. Must be highly organized and can handle several tasks concurrently and prioritize work appropriately.
