The candidate will perform various substantive legal duties under the supervision and direction of the attorneys in the Admiralty section. Essential Duties : Organize and maintain files from the inception of the case through the completion; Conduct factual investigations to identify key parties and relevant documents for the preparation of discovery; Assist in the preparation of discovery requests and discovery responses; Coordinate depositions of parties requested by attorneys (i.e. claimant, treating physicians, experts); Draft various pleadings; Assist with all aspects of case litigation, preparation and identification of exhibits for motions, position papers, mediation, depositions and trial; Verify case citations in briefs for current validity and accuracy through LexisNexis; Interact with government entities, physician offices, hospitals and court officials as well as with clients; Assist in trial with exhibits, demonstrative aids and witnesses; Maintain attorney calendars up-to-date with case deadlines; Conduct legal research; Maintain medical records up to date and into chronology binders; Schedule and coordinate Independent Medical Examinations, Vocational Rehabilitation Evaluations, marine and economists with the preparation of expert reports; Maintain time sheets and meet firm deadlines as outlined.
