MySQL Administrator
Menlo Park, CA
BoardVantage is looking for a MySQL Administrator. The successful candidate will have experience monitoring databases and setting up database replications/clusters. The candidate will also have experience in backing up and recovering processes. This position reports to the Director of IT.
Responsibilities:
• Define and improve best practices for data and database activities
• Work as part of the team, with developers on performance tuning and optimization, query optimization, index tuning, caching, buffer tuning, etc.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems with MySQL and storage engines
• Utilize tool sets to diagnose and resolve production issues
• Perform operational DBA duties including: installation, database upgrades, patching, environment cloning, implementing backup/recovery and monitoring procedures, capacity planning, and site failover/switchover
• Configure, manage and maintain a large MySQL server farm
• Development, test, roll-out, and support of our database tools
• Maintain backups of mission critical data
• Be part of a production support 24x7 rotation
• Participate in design reviews
• Provide technical oversight for database related projects
Required Skills/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or Information Technology
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience as a DBA or equivalent.
• Certified MySQL DBA is a plus
• Demonstrated experience with MySQL database design, implementation, performance tuning, and capacity planning. Managing large scale database system is a PLUS
• Demonstrated experience with Open Source/Linux development and production environment
• Possess creative ability, credibility, self-confidence and Independent
• Good team player with strong analytical, communication, and troubleshooting skills
• Able to work under pressure and multi-tasking capabilities
