Animal Welfare Summer Intern

SUMMARY: This position provides student team members with exposure and experience in various aspects of the Tyson production process. The intern will be expected to conduct job tasks as they pertain to the welfare and care for animals used in Tyson's production facilities (chicken, cattle, pigs and turkeys). This position may require the holder to work various shifts during the intern period, as deemed by the supervisor, in order to learn additional facets of the operation. Duties include learning and understanding of the Animal Welfare programs, data collection and regulatory requirements. Other duties may include special projects assigned by the Office of Animal Welfare, computer applications, and basic statistical analysis. Our Interns are expected to contribute to our success through innovative ideas and value creation, as well as have exposure to other departments such as Accounting, Safety, Food Safety Quality Assurance, Human Resources, Operations, Live Operations and Procurement.REQUIREMENTS: Education: Students must be enrolled in a degree program from an accredited university – junior, senior or graduate level; agriculture or animal welfare related degree preferred.Experience: Knowledge of agriculture, animal or meat industry experience preferred.Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.Special Skills: Motivated self-starter who has the desire to learn from others; ability to work independently or as part of a team; strong problem-solving skills; time management and multi-tasking abilities; and strong interpersonal skills.

Location is Springdale, AR, but some travel may be required.
