Senior Tax Accountant
The candidate will prepare and file various federal, state, local, and international tax returns and LLP filings. Maintain separate “tax books” for foreign office tax filings. Calculate and track partner state tax withholdings. Prepare various tax return schedules and calculations. Prepare monthly account reconciliations and perform account analysis. Assist with audits, budget, partnership tax return, and special projects. Compile and analyze data to complete supporting tax schedules for the preparation of federal, state, local, and international returns. Prepare Fixed Asset/Depreciation tax schedules for tax return (Federal Tax, AMT Tax, State Taxes, etc.) using FAS system. Prepare and file property tax and other state and local tax returns. Assist foreign offices with questions regarding VAT internal recording procedures and maintain records for foreign VAT returns. Prepare and file state and local Partnership LLP filings in various states which the Firm has offices. Prepare and maintain separate books for foreign offices tax filings. Assist management and partners to resolve tax-related issues. Research tax related inquiries and provide recommendations to management. Respond to inquiries from federal, state, local, and international tax authorities. Calculate & track partner state tax withholdings for various jurisdictions. Complete monthly account reconciliations and perform analysis. Compile information and prepare schedules. Prepare and enter journal entries and check reclasses, if necessary. Gather information for various tax audits (Federal, State, International, VAT, etc.). Assist in storing and organizing tax data as needed. Cross train with other members of the Tax group. Calculate and submit approved tax return or estimated payments via online accounts or through the accounts payable system. Complete and track certified mailings for tax items. Prepare schedules for yearly budget and annual financial audit. Assist with miscellaneous analysis projects and other special/on-going projects. Maintain updated procedure documentation for all processes responsible for. Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required. Should have 4+ years of tax experience in a law firm or professional services environment. Experience with Sage Fixed Asset Software is a plus. Knowledge of accounting/tax systems, procedures and principles is required.
