Desktop Applications Engineer
The candidate manages desktop application systems and consult on desktop application issues and initiatives providing 3rd level support. Works directly with various practice areas and departments including but not limited to Business Intake and Marketing to implement any changes to the firm macros and templates. Supports, creates and updates the Firm engagement letters and the various practice areas forms using tools such as Contract Express and Firm custom development tools. Will involve some logic/coding and also working directly with Thomson and other 3rd party vendors. Points of contact for all support relating to core and non-core firm applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Browser applications, Document Creation applications and other legal applications such as Litera Desktop Suite, Laser Forms and Essential Forms. Oversees firm outsourced vendor developers to implement requested updates/changes to Microsoft Office customizations. Troubleshoots common issues, error messages and installation problems with the Microsoft Office Suite and all supported applications. Supports the Firm’s email metadata system to ensure compliance and functionality. Maintains and troubleshoots (when needed) all application integrations within the Microsoft Office Suite such as Filesite, Workshare, Power PDF and CRM. Assists with the evaluation, selection and implementation of new desktop application products. Configures and prepares all applications for packaging and distribution via packaging tools and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. Will involve working with team members to assist with the application packaging. Participates in desktop application incident, problem and change management. Updates desktop application documentation to support changes to the environment. Assists in the management of the Desktop Applications annual budget. Assists the team to ensure software licensing is accurate and up-to-date. Liaises between the Information Technology department, business departments, practice areas, clients and support staff. Meets with user groups to understand needs, issues and concerns and make recommendations on improvements. Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives.
