Patent Prosecution Legal Practice Assistant
The candidate will prepare and file non-provisional and provisional applications, divisions, continuations, and responses to office actions, and prepare and submit associated transmittals via the electronic filing system. Manage formal papers from inventors, coordinate foreign filings, Powers of Attorney, gather prior art and prepare Information Disclosure Statements. Prepare and review daily docket reports and exhibit proactive interaction with assigned attorneys and agents. Responsible for quality-checking documents. Administrative tasks may include calendaring, coordination of meetings, and activities that require phone and in-person client and internal contact. A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years of recent experience with a patent prosecution docket within a professional environment and law firm experience is preferred. Should have knowledge of international procedures and requirements experience a plus; self-starter with problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, and organizational skills; strong project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines; excellent knowledge of English grammar, proofreading, and English composition skills as well as a disciplined eye for quality-checking document accuracy; excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Word, Windows, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledgeable of USPTO rules and requirements and experience maintaining U.S. Patent Prosecution case files is essential.
