State and Local Tax Senior – Indirect Tax

The candidate will participate in client meetings and assist in serving their needs. Assist with various tax consulting projects involving research and writing for tax planning, taxability, voluntary disclosures, audit defense, penalty abatement, refund claims, etc.. Provide technical support of state and local indirect tax returns with attention to multistate tax issues such as nexus, apportionment, sourcing, tax exemptions, deductions, tax rates, and tax credits. Research and documentation of client sales and use taxability of specific transactions. Keep up to date on state and local tax law changes. Analyze taxpayer data and be able to identify opportunities for prospects and clients. Develop internal relationships within the firm and help grow external branding. Participate in business development activities as needed. Bachelor's degree is required; emphasis in accounting is preferred. Advance degree such as Master’s of Tax or JD and/or LL.M. is a plus. Should have 2+ years of related tax experience; public accounting experienced is preferred. Experience with state tax planning, tax research, and tax analysis is required. Experience in state and local government revenue department is a plus. Previous experience performing multi-state tax compliance work is preferred. Previous experience performing tax research and providing technical advice on state and local tax issues is preferred. CPA or license attorney is preferred.
