This position reports to the Plant Manager and involves leading activities of the Engineered Shaped Components (ESC) department. This position will manage a group of 10-20 employees and requires a hands-on leader to drive continuous improvement that will lead to increased sales and profitability in the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for all production-related activities including Supervision of Direct Labor Employees, Production, Inventory Control, Planning, Quality, Environmental Compliance, Health and Safety.
Leading and developing the Production Team which includes operators running machinery, CNC’s, metal powder operations, heat treating and QA inspection of shaped metal parts.
Reviews and plans production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
Resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems through the implementation of continuous improvement (e.g. lean six sigma tools) to ensure minimum costs, consistent high quality, and prevent operational delays.
Works with the Plant Manager, R&D, sales and marketing to develop new products, markets, and specific cost savings plans.
4 year college degree, preferably in an engineering or technical discipline (metallurgy, mechanical engineering preferred).
Prefer at least 2-5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably working with metals/composites or powdered metals.
Continuous improvement experience (green/black belt and/or lean six sigma preferred).
Knowledge of CNC parts machining and basic CAD drawings a plus.
