A reputable law firm in New York City, NY, seeks an experienced Intellectual Property Biotechnology Patent Associate Attorney. This role is focused on patent counseling, preparation, and prosecution, specifically within the biotechnology, chemical, and pharmaceutical sectors.

Duties

• Draft and prosecute domestic and international patent applications.
• Conduct patent counseling, including the preparation of patent opinions.
• Collaborate with clients to ensure IP strategies align with business objectives.
• Conduct legal research and draft documents related to biotechnology patents.
• Maintain strong communication with clients and internal teams.
• Participate in team meetings, discussions, and other collaborative opportunities.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in patent counseling, specifically in biotechnology or related fields.
• Proven experience with patent drafting, prosecution, and patent opinions.

Education

• PhD in Biological Sciences (e.g., Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics) or a related field.
• JD from an ABA-accredited law school (required for attorney candidates).

Certifications

• Active USPTO registration number.
• Active membership in the NY State Bar.
