Knowledge Management Attorney

The candidate will assist the funds group to define, implement and promote KM tools, systems and processes with a focus on private funds. Work with practice group lawyers and the Chief of Legal Knowledge Management to maintain and improve system for tracking fund terms and experience, and identify and report on fund term trends for internal training, client communications and business development efforts, including substance-based pitch material. Lead efforts in maintaining fund term comparisons (summaries of fund terms). Respond to client matter team requests for research services and to tailor forms and presentations for specific transactions and/or business development activities. Stay abreast of current events in the industry and advise the practice group on legal developments affecting private funds. Draft, update and manage forms and checklists to reflect changes and developments. In coordination with practice group lawyers, prepare and update practice insight tools, including memoranda on commonly encountered legal issues and legal developments for internal communications, client alerts, webinars and other business development materials. Evaluate and recommend third-party resources that deliver legal and market knowledge relevant to the funds practice. Work with information systems service team to assist with document management and precedent tracking systems to facilitate user search and ensure uniform use of preferred filing systems. Organize practice group resources, including KM tools, on firm intranet. Train attorneys, paralegals and others on forms, document management systems for key fund documents, precedent library and other KM systems. Provide experienced advice to practice group members regarding substantive questions within areas of expertise and regarding best practices for forms, precedents and other materials. Collaborate with Chief of Legal Knowledge Management and KM Attorneys within the firm’s other practice groups and geographies to share best KM practices and resources. J.D. and 6-8 years of relevant practice experience in private fund practice is required. Experience with and comfort in using internet and intranet technologies is required.
