AV Project Engineer

The candidate will be participating in the strategic planning, design, and mapping of business requirements and solutions for AV systems. Working closely with AV Manager, plan, develop and implement new AV and VTC technical solutions based on needs of the business and emerging technologies. Writing AV technical specifications (for custom development, system integration, etc.) based on interactions directly with the Firm and professional consultants. Providing thorough leadership and familiarity with proven AV solutions that support overall business solutions. Working collaboratively with external vendors, consultants and internal Venable IT teams to determine future system specifications and requirements. Analyzing current AV business processes and making recommendations for improvement based on industry trends and professional business knowledge: identifying areas of risk and working with Manager and IT teams to develop plans to mitigate. Collaborating with AV team members, IT leadership, and business stakeholders to understand organizational and operational needs and challenges so they can provide input to an AV roadmap to provide optimal support to the business' AV and VTC needs. Drafting statistical and business case reports that assist decision-makers to support AV technical recommendations. Working with AV team members on projects and troubleshooting. Delegate work as appropriate based on team member and external consultant roles. Should have 3+ years hands-on experience configuring, implementing, integrating, and troubleshooting Videoconference (VTC) codecs, Conference room control systems (Crestron/Extron), audio and video components, including audio DSPs and analog and digital switchers. Thorough knowledge of protocols and AV design, including signal flow, VLANs, H.323, H.264, SIP, WebRTC, and H.239 duo-video, video bridging and gateways, and applicable platforms, including Zoom, WebEx, MS Teams, Pexip, and BlueJeans is required. Experience with both on-prem and cloud software solutions is required. Experience working with design and integration teams is required. Understanding of signal flow and operation of audiovisual, videoconference, and live event equipment microphones, speakers, monitors, projectors, video cameras, recording equipment, AV cables and wires, mixing boards, and relevant software is required.
