The candidate's responsibilities include: Drafts legal documents, including Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Advance Health Care Directives, to meet clients’ estate planning goals. Communicates with clients in person and by phone, mail, and/or email to provide substantive counsel to clients, secure client engagements, keeps matters moving forward in a timely manner, and advises clients of the status of matters. Communicates with financial advisors, accountants, and other members of clients’ professional teams as necessary to assist clients in developing and managing their comprehensive estate plans. Oversees the administration of estates and trusts and advising personal representatives and trustees regarding their duties and responsibilities in the administration process. Communicates with beneficiaries, opposing parties, attorneys, courts, and other third parties as necessary to negotiate and resolve disputed matters. Represents individuals in guardianship and conservatorship and other protective proceedings and manages case progression for contested and uncontested matters.Requirements: Knowledge of law and legal practice in order to perform substantive legal function in client matters as normally acquired through completion of a Juris Doctor degree and successful completion of Maine State Bar Exam. Good standing with the Maine Bar (or current eligibility for admission to the Maine Bar). Demonstrates academic excellence or relevant legal experience.
