SQL SERVER DBA
Responsible for operational support of corporate SQL Server Database environment. This position plays an integral role in the maintenance and support of business critical applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design data storage area to be used by Data Acquisition Services and Data Stores.
Design / implement physical table spaces and database partitioning strategy.
Design data load process from Data Acquisition layer (staging environment) into Data Stores.
Responsible for physical aspects of the database including logging and rollback configuration.
Responsible for database backup and recovery during all project phases.
Perform performance monitoring, database reorgs.
Assist developers in SQL tuning; work with Application Architect and Data Architect to devise appropriate indexes.
Server installation and maintenance.
Evaluate and recommend testing of new procedures, software, and hardware to support SQL Server environment.
Database object creation, maintenance, and change control.
Monitor relational databases to optimize performance, resource use, and physical implementation.
Monitor and maintain database security in cooperation with data security administrators.
Database backup-up / recovery, logs and journals
Fault analysis and resolution.
Support Data Modeling unit with the design of new databases to meet applications requirements.
Support design and implementation of ETL processes between disparate systems.
Assist DB2/DBA team with DB2 administrative duties.
SKILLS:
Experience in database schema design and database configuration management.
Knowledge of Performance Monitoring and Query Optimization.
Strong expertise in SQL Server 7 and 2000
6 years specific SQL Server Administration experience.

DTS Package Management
Enterprise Manager
SQL XML
IIS Administration.
Integrated Windows Security (Active Directory).
Strong knowledge of Windows 200, 2003 and XP (5 years).
Strong knowledge of SQL and Stored Procedure Language.
Strong knowledge of relational database concepts.
Ability to translate Logical Data Models into physical structures.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong planning and analysis skills.
Ability to mentor / guide junior administrators.
Prior application development experience including architectural and design skills are strongly preferred.
Strong TCP/IP and Networking skills.
.NET, J2EE and OS390/DB2 are a major plus.
