Hardware System Engineer
The hardware system Engineering position will provide technical expertise for cross-disciplinary teams in the development of sensor technology that is compatible with sequencing platforms that will be developed into new products. As a successful candidate, you will lead hardware system development for sensor products in house. As a technical lead, you will also be expected to apply scientific principles (physics and math) and practices to emerging fields, such as CMOS/semiconductor, electronic hardware engineering while also identifying opportunities to improve existing products. You will be expected to interface with bio-chemistry personnel towards evaluating and characterization of the system and system-components, and sensors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in the project planning process, towards product development as a hardware system engineer.
Be proficient in the use of CAD tools such as Altium for schematic entry, layout.
Must have worked on a system released to volume production.
Lead experimental studies to evaluate components, or sub-assemblies for use in main products
Bring up, characterize systems for performance and functionality.
Use microcontroller software for debugging systems, and/or use of third party software in evaluating in-house built systems.
Lead the system debug and performance maintenance of products, pre & post release to manufacturing.
Will be required to use and maintain lab equipment such as soldering tools, power supplies, oscilloscopes etc.
Together with the group director and project leaders interpret experimental data and write technical progress reports and papers.
Present technical findings during design reviews, project reviews, company meetings, and scientific meetings.
Participate in the writing of the patent disclosures related to assigned projects.
Maintain notebooks in a manner that complies with company policy for recording of experimental data.
Perform other duties as assigned.
A MS with 1-3 years; BS with 3-5 years of working experience in electrical engineering, engineering and relevant engineering.
Strong skills in the development of hardware system for sensors, including PCB layout, FPGA programming, schematic design and development, high speed serial interfaces, digital logic design, hardware system integration and debugging etc.
Vendor management working experience.
Knowledge of the microcontrollers, including chip architecture, analog/digital /mix signal circuit etc.
Working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices.
Able to work independently and lead and collaborate as a technical leader.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment are required.
Individual must also be able to organize and multi-task. Rigorous execution of experimental protocols is critical.
Familiarity with temperature, image, light sensors is a plus.
Software fundamentals, and familiarity with C or C# or Java or Python etc is a plus.
Experience working with Chinese business, academic institutions and industries
Fluent in Mandarin Chinese
