Export Compliance Manager - Office of Research Integrity and Compliance

The candidate will be responsible for company’s research and development operations related to export compliance to include negotiating export terms in contracts, training project staff, overseeing hardware and software export, and requesting an export license or a commodities jurisdiction as needed. Will also be part of the university’s Export Compliance Group within ORIC and provide similar support for other university activities. Review export control cases for projects (hardware, software and technical data) and provides a clear path forward to partners. Support agreement negotiation for export control language and compliance. Assist with the creation and implementation of Defense export control process, work instructions and control plans. Screen potential sponsors, contractors and visitors for restricted party compliance. Communicate export control plans and policies to project staff. Train new researchers, employees and project staff with respect to export policies and regulations. Generate documentation for self-assessment of classification. Prepare and file for export licenses and/or commodities jurisdiction. Preparing documentation for shipping hardware and/or exporting software and technical data. Lead the development of effective policies and procedures to improve export control compliance. Collaborate with and maintain effective relationships with other groups at the university such as the Center for Technology Transfer and Enterprise Creation and the Office of Sponsored Programs. Work with the IT department to develop and implement appropriate policies and procedures that align with new regulations.
