Associate General Counsel
The candidate will delegate portions of the review to outside counsel as needed. Identify issues and consult with DUMAC’s external tax, ERISA, and compliance counsel as needed for various projects to resolve unique, complex, or critical legal matters. Research various legal and compliance issues, particularly U.S. securities filings and compliance requirements. Identify and implement process efficiencies and training opportunities across the DUMAC team. Maintain & update key terms and other documentation templates. Manage record-keeping and document databases for all contracts under the attorney’s purview and ensure relevant reports, policies, and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated. Lead the legal review of operational due diligence for critical vendors. Supervise and mentor paralegals and legal interns on various projects. Should have 3 to 7+ years of relevant experience, and be a member of the bar; possess knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations applicable to investment managers, in particular, applicable SEC rules and regulations; bring a deep familiarity with a range of private equity fund structures; be well organized, thoughtful, attentive to detail, as well as analytical, self-motivated, pro-active, and solutions-oriented; have excellent written and verbal communication skills, complemented by strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to foster relationships with different constituencies; be comfortable working both independently and as part of a broad team; have asset management legal & regulatory experience, with a preference for a law firm and/or in-house experience advising a well-regarded global asset management firm with respect to private placements and related investment activities. Work requires communications and analytical skills generally acquired preferred. through completion of a bachelor's degree program. An MBA and CFA; Work requires experience in research and financial analysis, generally acquired through two years of related experience.
