Business Development and Marketing Manager

Duties: Identify opportunities for PG and IT visibility with the media, including following emerging trends, tracking case wins that may be of interest, supporting thought leadership efforts, working closely with the firm’s PR and social media professionals. Regularly update and maintain all marketing materials, e.g., website, brochures, one-pagers, standard RFP responses, etc. that pertain to the PG and ITs. Handle all pitches and Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for the PG and collaborate with colleagues implement the groups’ annual Business Plans as they relate to marketing initiatives. Engage with group leaders and members to gain deep and practical knowledge of practice group sub-specialties and sector coverage, geographic markets, clients, and matters. Help plan and implement the Intellectual Property PG’s annual retreat. Coordinate monthly IT meetings alongside the ITLs including agenda development and tracking action items. Assist with, and as appropriate attend, group meetings and trainings. Support related sponsorships. Support lateral integration. Assist with and conduct prep sessions for client and target client presentations as relates to new or additional work. Work with PGLs and ITLs on internal communication vehicles to create awareness around BD and marketing best practices. Present BD and marketing best practices at regular PG/IT meetings. Create and/or manage BD programs/events to expand existing client relationships or acquire new clients, e.g., coordinate with Events team on seminars, webinars, etc. Coordinate with the Library and the competitive intelligence professionals on providing company research and timely industry trend information. Manage to the calendar and process for strategic submissions (i.e., Chambers) and award nominations to ensure the most high profile matters and attorneys are being put forth. Be aware of the groups’ blogs and suggest ways in which to cross-market content. Informally serve as an advisor/coach to attorneys in the PG/IT who would benefit from 1:1 coaching. Act as a resource to attorneys in the PG/IT by having a deep understanding of the firm resources and the areas of expertise (matters, clients, and attorneys). Respond promptly to attorney requests and manage expectations. Share best practices with other members of the BD and Marketing Team. Coordinate effectively with others professional administrative departments of the firm. No direct subordinates, but there are many resources available inside and outside the dept., e.g., Graphics; Library. If a matter is delegated, it is incumbent upon the BD and Marketing Manager to ensure the job is done, done well, and on time.
