What We’re Looking For:

The Director, Corporate Real Estate (CRE) oversees all 2U’s leasing and subleasing activities. These activities include coordinating with internal stakeholders, landlords, and brokers, to secure or divest of office and studio space as needed.

The position is also responsible for construction and remodeling of 2U office space to ensure a dynamic and productive work environment. Key to this role’s success is working with internal stakeholders and leadership to understand facility needs and requirements.

The Director, CRE will manage 2U’s relationships with landlords and brokers. The position will also require regular reporting to leadership regarding real estate holdings, anticipated changes, and financial performance.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

Build and execute a strategic plan for the company’s office space requirements. This will include coordinating with HR, FP&A, and company leadership to anticipate required office needs in each of 2U’s markets.

Lead multi-disciplinary teams to develop and evaluate real estate alternatives against financial and operational parameters.

Develop office and studio space that will bring energy, productivity, and collaboration to the 2Utes that work there.

Partner with the Chief Procurement Officer, Accounting team, and Legal department to negotiate leases and contracts.

Working with internal 2U stakeholders, architects, and general contractors, to design, plan, and oversee office construction/renovation.

Establishes robust financial tracking to ensure visibility into budgets, schedules, and risks for projects.

Develop, track, and report to leadership Corporate Real Estate budgets and financial performance.

Maintaining relationships with brokers and landlords.

Review and manage landlord charges for operating costs and real estate tax reimbursement.

Occasional travel to support leasing and construction efforts.

Most daily activity will not be physically demanding but some preparation for office openings may require a reasonable degree of physical exertion.

Things That Should Be In Your Background:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

10 years of experience directly related to real estate, facilities and property management

Prior or current responsibility for strategic planning for multi-location organizations in a growing company (international experience preferred)

Extensive experience as the budget owner of a real estate portfolio and construction projects
