Attorney-Civil Litigator

Profile

A law firm in Wichita is seeking an experienced Attorney-Civil Litigator to lead a team of Of-Counsel and Associate Attorneys, Paralegals, Legal Secretaries, and Administrative Assistants. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in defending complex personal injury and commercial claims, providing outstanding client service, and excelling in all phases of litigation, including jury trials.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of Of-Counsel and Associate Attorneys, Paralegals, Legal Secretaries, and Administrative Assistants.
• Provide legal support and guidance in defending complex personal injury and commercial claims.
• Handle all phases of litigation, including jury trials.
• Perform quality work on a timely basis and provide outstanding client service.
• Draft formal pleadings/motions, correspondence, litigation reports/plans, and litigation budgets.
• Conduct depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
• Conduct legal research to support client matters and provide up-to-date legal advice.
• Work collaboratively with paralegals and support staff to ensure efficient and accurate administration processes.
• Advise and communicate regularly with clients regarding the status of their matters.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys to strategize complex cases, provide input on legal strategies, and contribute to the overall success of the firm.
• Participate in jury trials as second chair or first chair, depending on complexity and individual experience.
• Ensure billing of clients for services provided.

Requirements:

• 5-7 years of experience in the defense of complex personal injury and/or commercial claims in all phases of litigation.
• Strong knowledge of legal and medical aspects of defending complex claims.
• Excellent drafting skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff.
• Ability to perform substantive legal functions in client matters as normally acquired through the completion of a Juris Doctorate Degree.
