Job Description:

What is the role

This position reports to the Major Maintenance Supervisor and works closely with the technical disciplines to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in field execution of projects. This role has the primary responsibility for Major Maintenance related deliverables from early Define Phase to Execute and Close-out.

The Major Maintenance MTL provides direction, coordination, and oversight to our contractor partners and serves as an integrator between Maintenance, Operations, Safety, and Engineering as the work is executed in the field.

In early stages of Major Maintenance activities, the Major Maintenance MTL will participate in constructability reviews with the project team. He/She will also work with planning and the technical disciplines to develop job plans, schedules, resource demand, materials for procurement, and logistics for work execution.

In the later stages of the project, the Major Maintenance MTL works closely with Safety, Maintenance Contractors, technical disciplines, and Operations to assure the day-to-day needs of all parties are met in an efficient safe manner as the work is executed.

Accountabilities

Ensures that all Major Maintenance activities by Shell and contractor personnel are carried out in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner.

Confirms that all necessary procedures, practices, standards, are documented and followed.

Coordinates the execution of Major Maintenance activities effectively and within budget.

Ensure contractors adhere to the agreed quality plan, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Inspection Test Reports (ITRs). Verify installation through adherence to all drawing specifications and construction standards.

Lead weekly meetings with contractor partners to discuss safety, job updates, and eliminate any obstacles.

Identify any delays that would prevent schedule attainment.

Attend daily project scheduling meetings to update the P-6(Scheduling Software) Project scheduler on work scope status accordingly.

Working closely with crafts and solicit input from all team members on opportunities for improvement.

Identifies and justifies the need to adjust staffing levels by working through and with the Major Maintenance Supervisor. 

Lead Major Maintenance Project kick-off meetings

Monitor construction productivity through established metrics and works directly with the Project Team to assure issues are quickly resolved and established productivity targets are met.

Work directly with the Project Team and contractors to support the development of the project schedule during the planning phases and executes per plan.

Perform contract holder duties for assigned contracts.

Raise Request for Information (RFIs) to Project Engineering and collaborate on practical resolution without undue delay.

Must be able to perform work in an industrial environment. This position requires occasional need to climb ladders and stairs to access process equipment at elevated heights.

Dimensions

Interpersonal skills, negotiating skills, mentoring, networking ability and ability to manage multiple interfaces with varying need and priority are critical to success in this position.

Direct impact on construction efficiency, safety, and cost.

What we need from you

Requirements:

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis

With Highschool Diploma

Minimum 5 years' experience with a Construction/Maintenance Trade background

Skilled in use of MS-Word, Excel, Outlook, or has ability to learn and use these tools.

Skilled in the use of SAP (CMMS)

Strong knowledge of P6

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to deliver results through others.

Working knowledge of QA/QC requirements

Able to conduct business conversations and communicate freely and effectively with all levels of the organization. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability as a Team Player. Willingly offer and accept challenge and feedback on job deliverables.

Able to perform work with little or no supervisor direction.
