Computer Systems Analyst – Ruby on Rails, HTML
This is a full-time position with Vanderbilt Center for Quantitative Services.
Requirements:
Design, develop, and maintain web-based applications (60%): This position will have responsibility for development of software applications for end-user data management. This will require end-user needs assessment and analysis. Applications will utilize the web development framework Ruby on Rails, SQL database, and a presentation layer of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. These applications must allow for sophisticated conditional logic, strong validation, and complex queries, as well as providing user-friendly, web-based interfaces for data entry from multiple end-users across campus and in other institutions.
Assist statisticians with statistical analysis (20%): This position will be responsible for managing or reshaping datasets and scripting in R or other appropriate programming languages.
Provide technical assistance to end users (20%): This position will be responsible for troubleshooting and correcting problems experienced by application end-users and Windows, OS X, and Ubuntu workstations.
Additional information:
Previous experience with web application development in Ruby on Rails required
Experience with Unix-like environments, Git a plus
Experience with systems administration strongly preferred
Candidates are expected to be able to work independently on self-managed projects as well as working as part of a programming/development team
