Corporate Counsel
The candidate will work directly with various firm business functions - including the AWS supply chain, procurement, engineering and product functions - to support the global procurement, manufacture, transportation and distribution of firm enterprise and retail hardware products, and the global provision of web services related to those hardware products. Principal duties include (i) providing day-to-day advice on regulations concerning the design, development, manufacture, operation, procurement, distribution and disposition of cutting-edge devices; (ii) monitoring and advising the business of upcoming regulatory changes; (iii) formulating, implementing, and maintaining applicable regulatory compliance policies and processes; and (iv) providing compliance-related legal support for AWS commercial transactions. Must have five or more years of legal experience advising on products compliance issues or similar regulatory issues (e.g. environmental, telecommunications, consumer product safety, or medical device compliance). Must be enthusiastic, and enjoy working hard, being challenged, and working in a fun, team-oriented environment. Must also demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. A J.D. degree and membership in one state bar is required. A J.D. degree (or equivalent) and membership in good standing in at least one state Bar are required. Experience with Consumer Product Safety Commission standards and regulations are required. Experience with global environmental and technical regulations attaching to the manufacture, sale, distribution, use and disposition of products including consumer devices, including EU regulatory requirements such as the General Product Safety, EMC, RoHS, and WEEE Directives are required. A combination of law firm and in-house experience are required. Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team are required. Strong organizational and project management skills are required. Strong analytical and communication skills are required. Common sense, great judgment, and a good sense of humor are required.
