We have a new opportunity for a Business Development Assistant to join our dynamic Marketing & Sales team of over 45 employees across our three UK offices (Bristol, London and Reading). This team supports domestic and international communications, marketing, sales, events and brand strategy.

This is a full-time, permanent position based out of our Bristol office although we are happy to consider some home working fir thtoo.

The Team

OC's business development team provide support to the firm's lawyers in all aspects of business development, including client relationship management and bids. The team is structured, like OC itself, along sector lines, covering all service offerings and international jurisdictions within those sectors.

What you'll do

As a Business Development Assistant you will support the business development sector teams that are responsible for growing four of the firms key sector groups: Real Estate & Infrastructure, Retail & Consumer, Digital Business and Life Sciences & Healthcare.

You will administer best practice management of key information required by the business development teams, including pitch content, intranet pages, event logistics and client relationship development documents.

While working in a fast paced environment, your own development will be supported by the Business Development Managers, and you will learn the skill set required to succeed within a professional services business development team.

Other key responsibilities include:

Supporting the Business Development Managers on the organisation and running of internal sector group meetings

Supporting the Business Development Executives on client events and participation at external industry events

Liaising with PA teams to organise meetings and agendas

Sharing Client Relationship Development (CRD) reports, plans and tools across CRD teams

Supporting the Business Development Executives on the creation of legal directory entries and external communications such as client newsletters

Assisting with the team's social media and PR strategies

Gathering fee earner CVs for inclusion in pitches

Updating pitch trackers and experience database

Preparing quarterly Opportunity Pipeline reports

Creating sector group internal update emails using content provided by Business Development Executives

Updating and managing sector internal intranet pages and internal sector group email distribution lists

Owning sector group tracker documents and taking responsibility for regularly updating these trackers

Owning sector group filing systems and structures - managing the internal electronic filing structures across all groups

Building various reports from the firm's systems and sharing these across the sector groups

Contribute to the continuous review and improvement of processes in the team

Be an ambassador for the firm in all direct and indirect contact with our clients and potential clients

Promote a culture of mutual understanding, through effective communication both within sales and marketing and legal teams

What we're looking for

You'll be exceptionally organised, with a good eye for detail, highly literate and numerate

You will have good communication skills and able to build rapport with those that you work directly with, the wider Sales & Marketing team and the Fee Earner Community

You will have the ability to multi-task and able to manage your workload to meet deadlines as agreed within your team

You will also be confident to suggest alternative ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness within your team

Ideally you will be educated to at least A-Level standard (or equivalent qualifications) and looking for a mixture of sales and marketing challenges

Strong IT skills, ideally with experience using Microsoft Office
