Legal Operations Manager
The candidate will be responsible for supporting the strategy of the Risk & Business Analytics Legal Operations function, with particular focus on the day-to-day execution of key projects to improve the effectiveness of the Risk & Business Analytics Legal team. Will drive the implementation and use of proper systems, processes and tools to deliver Legal services in the most efficient and cost-effective manner, including supporting both internal and external resource management. Technology Management. Lead optimal utilization of technology by the Legal team, though planning, selection, procurement and/or development, training and adoption of key technology resources. External Resource Management. Establishing and driving the selection, onboarding and performance of legal team vendors, including law firms, through performance management and payments. Contract Management. Drive the development of processes and adoption of technology to support the management of contract creation, execution, storage and compliance with contractual obligations. Metrics & Analytics. Establish protocols to collect, organize and use data to inform decision making and performance management related to the Legal team and the Legal Operations function. Internal Resource Management. Identify and drive activities for legal personnel related to recruiting, onboarding, training, work allocation, performance management, talent development and employee communications. Knowledge Management. Create processes for capturing, distributing, and effectively using legal knowledge and information, from work products (such as legal memos, emails and contracts) to ensure efficient use of prior experience. Change Management. Provide leadership and direction to the Legal team in connection with technology and process changes led by the Legal Operations function. Project and Process Management. Directly manage identified projects to support the strategic objectives of the Legal Operations function. Strategic Planning - Provide support to the Legal Operations team in defining the strategic objectives of the group, executing on the defined strategy and reporting on the progress and success of the Legal Operations team. Financial Management - Assist the VP of Legal Operations with activities that support the allocation of financial resources, forecasting of expenses, and creation/maintenance of budgets to ensure alignment with financial requirements and expectations. Compliance - Identify and support areas of Legal Operations that impact the Legal team’s compliance obligations. E-Discovery - Provide technical and operational support to the Litigation team around e-discovery technology, systems and processes. Information Governance – Understand the company-wide Information Governance requirements and apply the same to the Legal Operations initiatives, especially in the area of Knowledge Management. Should have 5+ years of experience; experience in Legal Department operations and/or managing department operations preferred. Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, required. Must have strong experience with and understanding of technical systems and tools utilized by law departments to efficiently manage its provision of legal services, including contract and knowledge management systems. Should have direct experience in working with law firm management and billing systems. Must have strong understanding of law departments, the processes that they use to deliver services and how legal services are managed. Should have advanced organizational, design and time management skills. Must have experience collaborating across diverse groups of stakeholders to drive necessary change to processes and behaviors.
