The People's Law Firm
1 yrs required
The People’s Law Firm has an immediate need for a self-starting, hyper-organized litigation paralegal (or legal assistant with substantial litigation experience). This person will have primary responsibility for management of the Firm’s vibrant personal injury and civil rights litigation practice – from docketing and calendaring to trial work and everything in between (organizing records; drafting discovery and disclosure statements; scheduling, preparing for, and attending depositions; and preparing for and attending trials when necessary). They will be expected to do so with modest administrative support and zero micro-managing.
The optimal candidate will:
• have plaintiff’s and/or defense tort litigation experience, particularly cases involving large powerful entities who are adverse to settlement;
• boast exceptionally strong organizational abilities, and efficiency and productivity habits;
• be intellectually curious, a quick study, willing to ask questions, and unintimidated by new areas of law; and
• feel excited at joining a unique law firm doing unique work and re-thinking everything about how law is practiced.
The People's Law Firm
The People’s Law Firm was founded in 2014 after the suppression of peaceful protests by militarized police in Ferguson, Missouri. It was created with a simple mission: to make the biggest dent possible in a justice system that overwhelmingly protects the powerful, views the constitution as an inconvenience, and erects every possible obstacle to the peaceful exercise of the rights of the people. The PLF does this through direct legal action: civil rights litigation representing victims of police brutality, false imprisonment, and malicious prosecution. It obtains most of its funding for this work through representation of injury victims and the aggressive pursuit of justice against insurance companies – with a particular focus on catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, and products liability work. The Firm’s home office is in Phoenix’s Roosevelt Historic District. It has recently expanded outside of the state with the opening of a new office in Boulder, Colorado, and plans for future expansion into other liberal hotbeds.
