Job Description:
Commercial Freight Voyage Analyst role is part of a Global Crude & Products Freight Operations Team responsible for providing support demurrage and post deal administration of all freight book operational activities, obligations and requirements under the charter party contract terms. This includes but not limited to charters internally and with third parties, operational elements of the time chartered fleet such as off-hire, breakdown, deviation, High Risk Area and any event which may be recoverable either under the Time Charter Party or the appropriate Voyage Charter in accordance with charter party terms and conditions. The aim is to eradicate un-necessary profit leakage from the Freight books P&L and capture all demurrage.
The role involves a fast moving and changing environment while working alongside a diverse, multi-cultured group of people. The individual should have a strong understanding of many aspects of the shipping and trading business, attention to detail, be self motivated with a result driven mentality, good interpersonal skills and can work well under pressure.
Conduct all freight voyage analyst claims activities promptly and professionally ensuring that all obligations and requirements under the charter party contract terms are met. This refers both to charters internally and with third parties.
Access and monitor Radar mail, to register and track all recoverable items in Radar that have not been previously identified by the commercial freight operations team.
Provide focal point for liaison with relevant departments responsible for the delivery of the necessary records and documentation for effective voyage analysis.
Record systemic failures and advise the Commercial Analyst.
Evaluation and maturation of estimates of revenue expected under the Charter Party (Port costs/deviation/HRA/other).
Analyze, identify and maximize the embedded optionality within charter party agreements (i.e. laycans, demurrage rates, ship space parceling, ship swaps, backhaul opportunities).
Liaise with internal and external to ensure smooth claim process and the closure of outstanding invoices.
Prepare claims under the governing contracts requiring detailed investigation and understanding of voyage costs and exposures and Charter Party terms.
Evaluation of all revenue streams for Trading as Ship-owners, ensuring that Freight invoices are correct and include fixed/variable diffs and overage.
Where necessary negotiate settlement with external customers to achieve optimum cost benefit to the business for disputed claims under the charter party arrangements entered into by freight traders. Ensure that any specific learning points, poor practices are referred to the Commercial Analyst in order that the relevant business team can be advised and report back CLEs where an impact to business profitability is incurred.
Advise trading staff of issues relating to post deal expenses and keep them fully appraised of claims in progress so that this can be taken into account in determining future business. Log and record all correspondence.
Co-ordinate the required actions for other cost exposures for the voyage ensuring the relevant team is informed for example: off hire.
Maintain records of claims activity to facilitate transparency to business.
Monitor payments minimizing bad and aging debt, chasing counterparties in respect of overdue claims.
Give support to the FRT desk regarding any additional queries regarding costs.

Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Minimum 2 years of experience in covering multiple products for demurrage & voyage analysis (crude, products, chemicals, LPG).
On completion of a voyage ensure that all recoverable items are highlighted to the post fixture departments and recorded to avoid profit leakage.
Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage tasks with competing deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Aptitude to learn quickly.
Strong organizational skills, demonstrated ability to meet daily deadlines, and attention to detail are essential to meet the departments demanding schedules and goals.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment with minimal supervision
Provide ad hoc reports and presentations as required.
Required to be able to manage multiple and conflicting priorities to achieve business intent for the enterprise.
Actively analyze each voyage the vessel performs to ensure all rebillable and demurrage costs are captured and recovered.
